A SUMMER OF SPECTACULAR SPECIAL EVENTS
AT SKI NEW HAMPSHIRE RESORTS
NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH, MAY 2009 - From May until the snow flies again in November, Ski NH mountain resorts offer a spectacular line-up of special events for the entire family - from antique car shows and craft fairs, to golf tournaments, food festivals, bike races, fishing derbies, dance instruction, music festivals, and more. From sports fanatic to fine arts lover, there is something to entertain everyone, and it all happens amid some of the most beautiful scenery New Hampshire's lakes and mountains have to offer. Here is a selection of what guests have to look forward to this summer:
MAY
May 14-July 2 GREAT GLEN TRAILS:
Salomon and Smartwool Spring Trail Running Series - A weekly trail running race series for all abilities and ages. Held every Thursday afternoon/evening for eight weeks.
May 16 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Lake Sunapee Bike Race - Longest running bike race in New England, sanctioned by USCF.
May 24 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 11th Annual Chili Challenge - Area restaurants compete for the title of best chili. Attendees pay a sampling fee then vote for their favorite. Guests can also enjoy a chili pepper eating contest and outdoor concert.
JUNE
June 6 WILDCAT: 18th Annual Kids Free Fishing Day - Kids ages 15 and under can fish from 9am-noon for no charge. Fishing is open to all ages after noon.
June 17 GUNSTOCK: 17th Annual Motorcycle Hillclimb - Watch motorcycles climb up the mountainside also enjoy food and live music.
June 19-21 BRETTON WOODS: Happy Father's Day- Enjoy family activities to celebrate Father's Day.
June 21 WILDCAT: Fathers Fly Wildcat with Free Gondola Ride - Purchase at least one junior/adult gondola ride and dad rides for free.
June 21-26 BRETTON WOODS: Summer Art Program- Five separate four-day long classes focusing on different forms of art.
June 27 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: There's a Black Fly in My Eye Trail Run and Relay - 10 Mile trail running race with solo and relay categories.
June 27 LOON MOUNTAIN: Minis on Top - Mini Coopers return to Loon to stage their trek across New Hampshire.
June 28 CRANMORE: Cranmore Hill Climb - A competitive running race up the mountain.
June 28 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Sunapee Lions Club Collectible Car Show - 300 Classic and antique cars and trucks on display at Mount Sunapee Resort. Free aerial sky ride with paid admission.
JULY
July 1-August 26th WILDCAT: Wednesdays at Wildcat - Every Wednesday 10am-noon enjoy a fun, educational outdoor activity at Wildcat.
July 3-4 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Independence Weekend Celebration and Fireworks - Guests can enjoy a parade, t-shirt dying, bounce house, live music, dunk tank, fireworks and more.
July 3-5 GUNSTOCK: Craft Fair- Enjoy shopping from a variety of craft vendors.
July 3-6 BRETTON WOODS: Independence Day Celebration- Patriotic fun including BBQ's, live entertainment and games.
July 5 LOON MOUNTAIN: The Loon Mountain Race - A 6.2 mile race up Loon Mountain as part of the New England Trail Running Series.
July 7-August 25 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Summer Mountain Bike Series - A weekly mountain bike series held every Tuesday for eight weeks.
July 9 CRANMORE: Arts Jubilee - An outdoor concert with Livingston Taylor.
July 10-12 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Black Fly Triathlon and Festival - Three-day event with a live concert, competition, fireworks and more.
July 11 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Newton's Revenge - Bicycle hillclimb up the Mt. Washington Auto Road
July 11-12 PATS PEAK: Pats Peak Mountain Bike Festival - Three events in one weekend. Events include a 24, 12 and 6 hour endurance race, a downhill race, and cross country race. Guests can also enjoy live music, kids' races, and fun rides.
July 16 CRANMORE: Newcastle Brown Ale Summer Concert Series - Enjoy a live concert with Rustic Overtones and opening act Audio Kickstand.
July 17-19 GUNSTOCK: Lakeside Living Expo - Over 300 vendors of log homes, rustic décor, boats and everything for lakeside living.
July 23 CRANMORE: Arts Jubilee - An outdoor concert with the Symphony Pops as well as fireworks.
July 24-26 BRETTON WOODS: 65th Anniversary of the Bretton Woods Monetary Conference- A celebration of the historic conference held at the Mt. Washington Hotel including a variety of activities and celebration dinner with keynote speaker.
July 25 LOON MOUNTAIN: Hot Dog Festival - Hot dogs and fun games for the entire family.
July 29-August 1 GUNSTOCK: Soulfest - The largest outdoor music festival in New England with over 125 artists and speakers.
July 30 CRANMORE: Newcastle Brown Ale Summer Concert Series - Enjoy a live concert with deSoL and opening act Evan Watson
AUGUST
August 1 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 10th Annual Chocolate and Jazz - Live jazz music along with a selection of chocolate temptations.
August 1-9 MOUNT SUNAPEE: 76th Annual League of NH Craftsmen's Fair - Over 200 booths of juried artists. Demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions and performances.
August 6 CRANMORE: Arts Jubilee - An outdoor concert with big band jazz and swing.
August 7-9 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Curious George Cottage Family Festival - Features a Curious George story hour, movie viewing, planetarium shows, banana pancake breakfast, family nature walk, fireman's BBQ, petting zoo, live music, face painting and games for kids.
August 8 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: 14th Annual 24 Hours of Great Glen - A 24-hour mountain bike race.
August 8 GUNSTOCK: Ribfest -Sample BBQ ribs and enjoy family entertainment.
August 8 WILDCAT: 21st Annual Wildman Biathlon - Run and bicycle to end at the summit of Wildcat. Benefits the Coos County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
August 9 GUNSTOCK: Mud Hog Race - Two-person teams navigate obstacles, bike and charge through a 60-foot mud pit to the finish.
August 14-16 BRETTON WOODS: Roaring 20's Weekend- Enjoy a weekend of celebrating the culture of the 20's with live music, dinners, and more.
August 15 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: 37th Annual Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb - See some of the top bicycle racers in the world race up Mt. Washington.
August 15 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Ugotta Regatta - Canoe, Kayak and Peddle Boat races on Corcoran's Pond.
August 21-23 GUNSTOCK: Timberfest - Enjoy live music, sports and fitness expo, Ironman Champions dinner and seminars for triathletes.
August 21-23 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 4th Annual Bluegrass Festival - Enjoy live music from more than seven different bluegrass artists.
August 28-30 CRANMORE: Bach Festival - An annual series of Bach Festival live concerts.

September 4-6 BRETTON WOODS: An Enchanted Ball- An extended weekend celebration of summer and the White Mountains including dinners and family activities.
September 5-6 LOON MOUNTAIN: Summer Send Off Weekend - Weekend of music, games, food and more before kids return to school.
September 6 WATERVILLE VALLEY: End of Summer Bash and Fireworks - Enjoy fireworks, outdoor concerts, a fashion show, kids games and a charity duck race.
September 18-20 LOON MOUNTAIN: New Hampshire Highland Games - Three-day festival celebrating everything Scottish including food, music, culture, dancing, athletics and more.
September 19-20 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Women's Fall Escape- A weekend for women including kayaking, biking, yoga, massage and more.
OCTOBER
October 1-31 GUNSTOCK: Morbid Mountain - Enjoy all types of Halloween fun as Gunstock is transformed into Morbid Mountain.
October 2-3 CRANMORE: Ghoullog Halloween Haunted Chairlift Rides - Guests ride the chairlift to the top of the mountain for a haunted mountain-top tour.
October 3 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 20th Annual Chowderfest - Area restaurants compete for the best tasting chowder. Guests pay a fee to sample chowder and vote for their favorite. A free outdoor concert will also be held.
October 9-11 CRANMORE: Ghoullog Halloween Haunted Chairlift Rides - Guests ride the chairlift to the top of the mountain for a haunted mountain-top tour.
October 10-11 ATTITASH: Oktoberfest - Enjoy live Bavarian music, dancing, children's activities, games, authentic German food and an Oktoberfest Beer Garden

October 30- Nov. 1 BRETTON WOODS: 13th Annual Hallow-Brew Weekend- Sample seasonal brews from local breweries, dress up for a costume contest and have your tarot cards read.
NOVEMBER
November 1 PATS PEAK: Oktoberfest in November - Enjoy live German music, food, beers, and dancing. Lift rides will be available as well as a ski and snowboard swap.
November 7-8 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Porky Gulch Classic - Two-day bicycle race consisting of three diverse stages.
